War Room a small movie, not perfect, the performances are uneven, the script can get a little heavy-handed in its sincerity and some timeline issues are not completely clear. I need to get that out of way to just say..it doesn't matter. I have never on the big screen seen a film so unapologetically Christian in my life. For non-believers it will either make them uncomfortable or they might laugh because some situations may seem too supernatural but to the Believer it will be a moment of conversation and contemplation. The moments I would love to share would ruin it for you but suffice it to say..they are pulling no punches. This is about the power of prayer..and in the words of Biggie Smalls " if you don't know..now you know". My new superhero is Ms. Clara, her commitment, passion and fire for the Lord is the stuff of legends. There were moments in the film where I knew me and the writers/directors the Kendrick Bros. would definitely not jive politically, the shot of the White House in one of the montages sort of hinted to that and I would be scared to have a conversation about reproductive rights. What I have found in my growing maturity, is there is nothing that can be everything for you. You have to take the blessings that are provided and keep moving forward. As someone who grew up on Double Dutch in Brooklyn and to see such a small representation of black people in a competition was shocking to say the least but I decided to put my awareness cap to the side and enjoy the moment. What I take away from this brave film, is not just the power of prayer, the passion of faith but how we all need to step up our prayer game. Like faith is not passive neither is prayer. Just like chanting in Buddhism, you must shake up the earth when you are battling the enemy, even if that enemy is your own negativity. There is nothing more important than your salvation and you can't be of use to anyone else if you can't fight for yourself. Even praying for others is fighting for yourself, the capacity to empower and believe for others will always bless you. For In their struggles you realize your own. There is so much more to the movie but I want you to see it for yourself and experience what brought tears to my eyes. It made me feel hopeful and ready to spread the Lord's love, what could be a better testament to the power of film than that. #prayer #film #love #spirituality #women #faith
